SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman, along with other prominent leaders, visited Baltimore to address the economic impact of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse and highlight federal resources available to help affected businesses. Guzman, representing the U.S. Small Business Administration, emphasized the government's commitment to supporting small businesses during a challenging time.

During a roundtable discussion with U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, Congressman Kweisi Mfume, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, and County Executive Johnny Olszewski, Administrator Guzman met with small business owners impacted by the bridge collapse. Guzman listened to the challenges faced by these entrepreneurs and reiterated the SBA's dedication to assisting them.

Guzman and the leaders also toured an SBA Business Recovery Center, where they engaged with the press to discuss the collaborative efforts between federal, state, and local authorities in providing resources for affected businesses. Subsequently, they participated in a press conference with Maryland Governor Wes Moore, where Guzman updated on the SBA's economic recovery initiatives.

In response to the crisis, the SBA has offered low-interest, long-term Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) to affected businesses in Maryland and neighboring states. Over 500 businesses have already applied for assistance from various regions affected by the bridge collapse.

Following the disaster, the SBA promptly established two Business Recovery Centers to aid business owners in completing loan applications, submitting necessary documents, and obtaining updates on their applications. The SBA's swift actions demonstrate its commitment to supporting small businesses through challenging times.
