Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sept. 12.
Greater Fox Cities Chapter of Credit Unions had their first CU Day at the Timber Rattler’s ballpark on Wednesday, August 21. Many of the staff enjoyed the game and warm weather. Prior to the game there was also a Meet and Greet with our local legislators, and staff had the opportunity to share their stories with them.
Executive Director Brian Branch, of World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) which is our bridge to the Credit Unions and financial cooperatives around the world, attended the game as well. Another aspect of WOCCU is they are a safe way for our local credit unions to help our worldwide Credit Unions that suffer disasters. A dream of WOCCU was to collect a pool of money to be used immediately for all the disasters. Usually they wait until funds are collected from an ask to us, but that can take time, and as we all know in a disaster - timing is so important!
So, we surprised Brian and his team with a check for $5000.00 to start that pool from our chapter. This check enabled WOCCU to get some initial relief to the Bahamas immediately, so it’s working already!
