About 35.1 percent of the 2,733 degrees and certificates handed out by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2016-17 were to students in Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Whitewater conferred 711 bachelor's degrees and 249 master's degrees in Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services programs.

But the single most popular program was for a master's degree in Business/Commerce, General. Data shows the school gave out 168 master's degrees in Business/Commerce, General, followed by 147 bachelor's degrees in Finance, General and 144 bachelor's degrees in Speech Communication and Rhetoric.

The university enrolled 12,657 students for 2016-17, including 11,409 in undergraduate programs and 1,248 in graduate programs.
