About 24.2 percent of the 339 degrees and certificates handed out by the Lawrence University in 2016-17 were to students in Visual and Performing Arts programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Appleton conferred 82 bachelor's degrees in Visual and Performing Arts programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in Music Performance, General. Data shows the school gave out 39 bachelor's degrees in Music Performance, General, followed by 35 bachelor's degrees in Biology/Biological Sciences, General and 28 bachelor's degrees in Economics, General.

The university enrolled 1,528 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
